Can Motivation Be Simple or Do We Over Complicate?

Hey Boss Babes!

You will be so excited to hear I have a new series on my blog that starts TODAY! This series is an inside look at my program that will directly reflect the hard questions and the “dig deeps.” Follow along each week to get the scoop and everything nitty-gritty!

Have you ever heard the phrase “just dig deep?” I bet you have and let me ask you this, did it actually motivate you or did it just set you off? Personally, when I hear this, all I can imagine is digging a hole without a shovel. Normally I would envision digging this hole with a plastic spoon, colluder, or something else completely useless. Sometimes starting a new journey can feel just like the “dig deep” phrase. We either know nothing about it OR are restarting a journey with some old wounds. Either way, not having any motivation can make life more than difficult, so where do we find it then?

Motivation is not just a set of phrases that will work for everyone though. That’s like saying that one pair of jeans will fit everybody, and we all know that is so far from the truth! Motivation comes from within and can be hard to create for yourself at first. The reasoning of “not knowing where to start” or “not being motivated enough” is where three important components come in: coaching, community, & consistency.

Do me a favor, remember back to when you were in high school and what the coaches were like. Did they let you just do whatever? Did they hold you accountable despite how much they liked you? Yes! They were there to give you the tools and guide you to be a better version of yourself for a bigger purpose. This is exactly what coaches in all stages of life are for. The goal for every single client is to get them to their goal by giving them the resources and consistency they need to succeed by themselves.

Community is what makes all the difference though. Coaches can tell you what to do, how to do it, how often, and the list goes on, but the real kicker is who you surround yourself with. As human beings, naturally we surround ourselves with people like us, but let me ask you, how beneficial is it to only be around people just like you? In order to grow, we need to have three different kinds of people in our lives: people above us, people at our same level, and people below us. We need an example of who we want to be, support in our current state, and people we can pass knowledge onto. Community is what holds us accountable and meets us exactly where we are on our walk of life; coaches are what can connect us to a community like this.

Consistency, on the other hand, honestly feels like an annoying buzz word to me. I don’t care who you are, there is at least one area of life that you lack consistency, we all have one. Where does true consistency come from? Most of the time not within so what about from community AND the coaches in your life? Think about it, both of those categories are people who have proven to be invested in you every single day despite your failures.

So where am I going with all of this? Motivation, yes, is rooted within us. We should forever be working towards that, but when you are just starting out, you need the key components of consistency, community, and coaches. Why? Those key aspects are what create and enforce meaningful and lasting goals. That’s what we are all working towards, right? In life we are always changing and evolving, along with the people around us, so which way do you want to grow and are you on the fast track to success? You tell me.
